ABSTRACT

Hasan Cüneyt Bozkurt was born in Söke in 1982. He graduated from Söke High School in 2000. The same year, he enrolled in the Department of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Science, Ege University, but left the program in 2002. He began writing essays for various newspapers, magazines, and fanzines. In 2008, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Uludağ University, Faculty of Education, Department of Primary Education, in the field of Classroom Teaching.
In 2018, he served as the editor-in-chief of Çocuk Yazar, a seasonal children’s literature magazine. Starting from its 25th year, he became a member of the editorial board of Beşparmak, the oldest culture and arts magazine in the Aegean region. His works have been published in numerous magazines. A total of 45 of his stories appeared across 59 issues of 47 different magazines. His short stories have been translated into English and received several awards. Some of his children’s stories were illustrated in PTT Çocuk, a magazine by the national postal service. His books have been published by Agora Kitaplığı, Akademisyen Yayınevi, Geniş Kitaplık, Mylos Kitap, Pupa Yayınları, and Siyah-Beyaz Yayınları.
His short story “Buraya Bir Şiir Gelmeli” (A Poem Should Come Here) was adapted into an animated film of the same name. The film was selected for screening at The Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival held in the UK. Its Turkish premiere took place in Kisir, a village of Söke, within the scope of the “Festival in the Village” project organized by the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD). The story and its namesake book were also released as an audiobook on Storytel. The documentary Latmos, for which Bozkurt wrote the script, won the Best Documentary Award at the 4th Chennai International Film Festival in India.
In 2023, he completed his master’s degree in the Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning and Economics program at Ege University. His thesis, titled “Investigation of the Preferred Lesson Supervision Model Based on Teachers’ and Administrators’ Educational Philosophies and Professional Variables”, introduced two measurement tools to the academic literature: the T&B Lesson Supervision Models Scale and the T&B Educational Philosophies Scale. These tools, developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Tonbul (Head of Educational Administration Department at Ege University), are the first known measurement instruments in the fields of educational philosophy and supervision to be developed not only in his hometown Söke but also in the entire province of Aydın. The study including these tools was published as a reference book by Akademisyen Yayınevi to be used in inspector training programs and in various academic courses such as Foundations of Educational Supervision and Philosophical Foundations of Education (within Introduction to Educational Sciences), as well as in postgraduate courses like Theories and Techniques of Supervision and Philosophy of Educational Administration.
Hasan Cüneyt Bozkurt has been working in the public education system for 17 years, serving as a classroom teacher, vice principal and school principal in schools located in Istanbul, Şanlıurfa, and Aydın. He is currently working as a classroom teacher. He has also served as the project leader in numerous long-distance bicycle touring projects. In 2021, he completed a 700-kilometer journey from Söke to Anıtkabir (the mausoleum of Atatürk) in 17 days. During his journey, he stayed in public schools and gave presentations to students about long-distance cycling and ecological living. In 2023, together with his son, he completed a tour on the world’s longest uninterrupted bike path, located between Arsuz and Samandağ in Hatay. They used pedal-powered trailers only and cycled 25 kilometers to deliver educational supplies—provided by Söke District Directorate of National Education—to Ulubatlı Hasan Secondary School in an earthquake-affected area.
Since 2017, Bozkurt has been both the trainer of trainers and coordinator of a children's literature project that started in Söke and expanded to all 17 districts of Aydın. Hundreds of student-authored storybooks have been published within the scope of this project. While the project is essentially a literary competition, in 2025 it included a new learning resource to support the academic and personal development of students with special needs: the Oxford 3000 Associative Word Guide. Based on the open-access 3000-word list published by Oxford University Press—and prepared with permission and recognition from the publisher—the book was authored by special education student Kadir Benli and edited by his teacher Hasan Cüneyt Bozkurt.
This original and comprehensive learning tool, enriched with memory techniques, is an effective resource for students preparing for exams, teachers who guide them, and anyone wishing to improve their vocabulary. Additionally, Bozkurt and Benli developed a complementary card game called the Oxford 3000 Associative Word Game, designed to reinforce the book's content and make vocabulary learning interactive and hands-on.
In 2024, Hasan Cüneyt Bozkurt was accepted into the PhD Program in Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning and Economics at Ege University.
